I was reading Slacker Manager today and he made reference to a tool from Mindmeister. Mindmeister is still in beta form (invitation only but I signed up for their newsletter and the same day I got the invite) but users can create concept maps that can be shared as well as exported. My initial reaction is favorable. I can see this tool as part of a suite of online applications for students. It doesn’t have the power of inspiration but for $0.00 I’m not going to complain.

Today my first graders are probably having the best day in the computer lab. They are playing Dinosaur World from the BBC. They’ve been studying dinosaurs for the last couple of weeks and today I unlocked the activity and they are having a blast!
For those of you who don’t know what Dinosaur World is it is simple virtual reality meets dinosaurs. You are on a scavenger hunt working you way through the Jurasic Period looking for a multitude of items. Here is a screenshot:

This piece of technology integration has got to be my first graders favorite thing ever!
